Mustang Cadet Squadron will host an open house this Wednesday, August 30th from 6:30 – 9:00! Every part of Civil Air Patrol will be on display, making this the best night to see if the program is the right fit for anyone interested.

Tonight’s meeting is our squadron picnic. We’ll be holding the picnic at Dove Valley Regional Park (map) at Shelter 2. The picnic will run during our normal meeting time of 6:30-9:00pm.

The OSIRIS-REx spacecraft is scheduled to launch this evening on top of an Atlas V 411 rocket. The ‘411’ variant has just one strap-on booster which will make the rocket asymmetrical.
You can see pictures of the rocket and read more about the OSIRIS-REx at Ars Technica. They will also embed live video of the launch scheduled to start at 2:30pm Mountain today.

B4UFLY uses map and airport data, along with real-time information such as temporary flight restrictions, to help drone operators decide if they’re legal to fly in a selected area.

Mustang Cadet Squadron has won the Quality Cadet Unit Award for the fifth year in a row! Winners must meet at least 5 of 11 criteria to win the award. Mustang was one of 299 units out of 1035 that won the award for this award period. Criteria for the award are Cadet Achievement, Retention, Adult Leadership, Orientation Flights, Growth, Encampment, Enrollment, DDR, Aerospace Education, STEM Kit, and CyberPatriot. Congratulations to everyone on their hard work over of the past year!
